Around the globe, and particularly in developing countries, women lack opportunities to obtain the education that they so desperately need and deserve. Those that do attempt to gain access to educational resources often find themselves at significant risk.
For example, the abduction of about 276 Nigerian adolescent school girls in mid-April of 2014 by Boko Haram militants. These young women were captured and are being enslaved for the crime of wanting a basic education – one that would fulfill their dreams for a more secure and productive future for themselves, their families and their nation. This call to “Think Globally and Act Locally”.
